So Here We Are Again...
May 27, 2020
So. I know what you’re thinking.
“As if 2020 couldn’t get any worse, now ThomasNATION is back? This is absolutely terrible!” In response, we kindly ask you to hear us out.
It’s no secret that ThomasNATION has had a rocky start. We had initially started off as just a site to post some news and reviews on the latest episodes, but it quickly evolved into something that diverged from a lot of that. We still kept the core theme of Thomas down, but for some strange reason we started posting about female pop stars and reviews on movies that have no relation to Thomas. So for that, all we can really do is apologise. Upon closer inspection, we probably should’ve known better than to diverge from the very concept of TN to begin with, and with all this circulating around, we weren’t exactly ThomasNATION, we were more just…NATION. We’d also like to apologise for the general aura of desperation for power and recognition. To quote a tweet from @r281285h, “we all landed lucky as individual groups who enjoy what we do, the enthusiasm for our project drives us, and more importantly we initially filled a space no-one else did at the time and benefited the fandom as a result”.
It’s safe to assume that TN’s biggest problem was that it tried way too hard to make it among the higher-ups of the fandom. We desperately tried to fill a void that didn’t really exist. I say this with no disrespect to my fellow TN teammates, they’re wonderful people. It’s just that looking back at the problems that the site raised, it felt more like these decisions were made by a corporately manufactured algorithm trying to be hip and trendy rather than a group of people having fun and doing what they love. So once more, we apologise for any ill-feelings we created.
But now that we’re back, now what?
Well, I'm happy to declare that from this point forth, our top priority is gonna be all things Thomas again, and those posts about female popstars and the non-Thomas movie reviews are no more. To start, we’re hoping to put the focus back on the reviews. And considering we’re now in the era of Big World! Big Adventures!, we have a lot to say. Another thing we hope to put the focus on is fanstories. If you don’t recall, me and the site’s founder, Jainil Devani, had wrote an original story entitled One Snowplough at a Time. I'll leave a link to both parts in case you wish to read them. I initially had more ideas for these stories, but I was unable to pull them off due to the site going offline. But now that we’re back online, I’m glad to be showing off these tales. Two new categories we’d like to implement are Classic Reviews and Movie Reviews. No, I don’t mean the movie reviews we’ve done in the past, like with Trolls and Fantastic Beasts, we mean reviewing the movies from the Thomas and Friends franchise. As for Classic Reviews, these are reviews of older episodes or just episodes we failed to cover in the time of our absence.
But there is one question you may or may not have regarding this whole thing: whatever happened to Jainil?
As I previously mentioned, Jainil Devani (ThomasFan3000) was the one who started up the whole thing. But in the time of TN’s absence and the team parting ways, Jainil moved on from the fandom and went on to become a songwriter and recording artist. But in order to start TN up again, I needed his blessing, and after a brief convo on Twitter, Jainil gave the go ahead to reboot the website and give it a fresh reinvention.
So that brings us up to date. From this point forth, the poorly handled, off topic and desperate ThomasNATION you know is pretty much dead. Now, we’re focused on what our followers want to see.
Thank you.
