ThomasNATION Reviews - Not So Easy-Greasy

January 17, 2026

I've gone on record in saying that one of the characters who was greatly improved in All Engines Go! was Nia. Her personality was greatly improved from being kinda bland to having a music-loving persona, it's a good update. With that said, while Nia hasn't had the greatest track record in terms of her stories so far in the reboot, I was looking forward to seeing what else they could do with her character for this week's episode which involves Nia causing an accident that sends sand into Tess's gears during a big delivery and thus tries Sandy's new super-grease as a solution.  With that said however, there is one question that I need to ask you all: do you want to see both "Carly's Magnificent Magnet" and "Carly's Screechy Squeak" from Season 2a done all over again? No? Well, here it is anyhow, come and get it!

While I get what this episode was trying to do in giving both Nia and Tess something in common to bond and learn from in regards to having "perfect plans", I am not even joking when I say that this episode takes plot elements from both "Carly's Magnificent Magnet" and "Carly's Screechy Squeak" while cranking the wacky hjinks dial all the way up to maximum thus making the overall experience feel both frustrating and overwhelming at the same time.
But speaking of Tess, I get that she's supposedly "the fastest crane in Sodor" but yet I can't help but question how she still has a job working at Kellsthorpe Wharf when she's just throwing the cargo onto Bulstrode with no regard for the safety of others below.  Also, what exactly did Tess do to the point where even Gordon himself is scared of her?  I will admit that this episode is better than Nia's last spotlight story with "Off the Rails", but "Not So Easy-Greasy" definitely lives up to its name alright as I'm gonna give it a 2.5/5.
