The Missing Breakdown Train: ThomasNATION Review (by ilovetrains323 and Team)
December 22, 2016
Hey Guys, its me, Nathan, here to review "The Missing Breakdown Train!"
The Missing Breakdown Train was probably the most hyped I’ve been for a Thomas episode in a while. Finally seeing why became of The Breakdown train after Rocky started taking over sound like one of the greatest episodes ever. So, how does it fair up? Quite well actually. I very much enjoyed this episode. While, like most episodes it does have its flaws. it was over all quite good.
The Episode starts of with an overlook of Knapford yard and off in one corner of the yard are Judy and Jerome, The breakdown train. Which brings me to my biggest issue. Its played off as if they have been sitting in the yard this whole time, waiting for a job that never comes... Are we really suppose to believe that they have been sitting there... In that siding for the last 71 years when they clearly haven’t. I mean we’ve seen that siding numerous times and they clearly not there. Another thing is if they were there the whole time. How does The Fat controller just forget about something that is sitting right outside his office? At least Glynn was played out well with actually being moved into a siding and hidden. Judy and Jerome are out in the open and in plain sight. if anything I would have said they were moved to an old shed and forgotten about. Till one day Ryan was shunting in the yard and biffs some trucks too hard and the crashed into the closed shed door and it breaks. When Ryan get to collect his trucks he sees them, feels bad for them, then takes them to the Harbour and then the episode continues how it is...
I honestly think we need a Narrow Gauge episode really bad this season to make up the lack of one last season.
Overall though this episode was great and I’m glad they are give us more time to “get to know” Jerome and Judy. The comedy in this episode was really funny as always. From the banter between Judy and Jerome, to Ryan leaving before Skiff could finish saying what he was saying. (Though I could’ve lived with out the poop jokes.)
Daisy’s Derailment was nicely animated and it was a big improvement from last seasons “The Other Side of the Mountain.” The music is also absolutely wonderful in this episode too. Chris Renshaw is doing fantastic work on making the music for the series.
In conclusion - even though you can come across a few issues - it was a great episode nonetheless. I honestly hope we see more of Jerome and Judy in the near future so we can expand on the as characters.
