Dowager Hatt's Busy Day: ThomasNATION Review
September 22, 2017
Dowager Hatt, mom boss [sorry] - takes the spotlight in the new Season 21 episode, Dowager Hatt's Busy Day. The episode is full of comedy - of course, and also full of clever references to what we call "The Dark Ages" of Thomas. But, does the episode hold up well enough?

So today my review is about Dowager Hatt’s Busy Day! What a hilarious episode that was! Full to the brim with comedy and gentle jabs at the Miller era in general.
At the beginning we start with a glorious shot of Tidmouth Sheds with the engines all waking up to see the Fat Controller sick. This leads to some hilarity with his sneezes and the way he flails around. Then his mother shows up to get him back to bed in a funny but awesome way. She then states that she will run the railway in his place, and we can all see where this is going.
After misnaming Emily and sending Thomas to wait for her hat at the docks, she heads to Knapford and the chaos only continues. We get more hilarity with engines doing the wrong jobs and her getting cross with Gordon, even throwing in a “Who’s Geoffrey?” reference.
The following scenes are all just to show how silly the Miller era’s ideas were at times. Engines having a whole flatbed for a small load, balloons on then and animals in normal freight cars. Plus the engines all doing jobs they don’t normally do.
Emily also gets time to shine here, as after seeing all the problems, she confronts Dowager Hatt nicely, and gets here to realize what she is doing wrong. Then together they make things right just in time for Topham to return. Well without a slight hiccup of Thomas arriving with the hat and Philip stuck in the mine.
Overall this episode was pure fun and enjoyment! Probably one of the season’s best so far! Both Dowager and Emily got starring roles and were given proper screen time. TFC was funny as always and all the sight gags and Miller references definitely helped to make this episode special.
My Rating: 4/5

Dowager Hatt's Busy Day was great and funny. So many references. They even made 'Who's Geoffrey?' reference. #TNS21Reviews @TheThomasNATION— HyunaLeo96 (@HyunaLeo96) September 21, 2017
#TNS21Reviews Dowager Hatt's busy day was hilarious. It was "The Green Controller" done right. Although it probably would better suit S17/18— Isaiah Williams (@IsaiahLilBear) September 20, 2017
