Railshamon - ThomasNATION Fanstory (Part 1)

March 28, 2025

It was a rainy evening at Vicarstown. The station was quiet, save for the sirens of police cars and ambulances. What should've been a day of celebration became a night of tragedy in the blink of an eye. A station platform was decimated, save for Rebecca, scratched up and wedged in the debris. A constable looked over the damages.
"Dear, oh dear." grumbled the constable. "All this on Sodor Day, no less...what could've possibly caused this?"
The answer? Enter Thomas, Percy and Diesel. The three of them were at the scene of the accident. Thomas was covered in mud, Percy in dust and Diesel in soot. You guys don't know this yet, but the three of them are key pieces of the puzzle.
"Oh, cinders and ashes!" whimpered Thomas. "This is a complete mess!"
"You do realise this is all your fault, Percy." groaned Diesel.
"Me?" gasped Percy. "It was you who-"
"'Ello, 'ello, 'ello." the constable smirked, swinging his baton around his finger. "What have we here? Three little engines at the scene of the crime."
Thomas, Percy and Diesel looked at each other nervously. "I can explain." they all said simultaneously.
"Alright, here's how this is going to work." explained the constable. "The three of you are going to explain your involvement in this wreck. I understand there's three sides to this story, so I'll need to go one by one."
"Heh heh, uh, officer," Diesel chuckled nervously, "can I go first? I mean, I want to shed some light on this-"
"No." the constable interrupted. "You. Blue boy."
Thomas gasped. "Me?"
"Follow me."
Thomas followed the constable to the Vicarstown shunting yard. Thomas was sweating nervously, fearing the worst.
"Now, let's get started." the constable started. "What happened here?"
"Okay, um..." Thomas gulped. "The story starts this morning at Tidmouth Sheds."

The story starts at Tidmouth Sheds on the morning of Sodor Day. Thomas woke up extremely groggy. He had just spent the week working abroad in India, so he wanted to have a lie-in.
"Good morning, everybody!" called Nia.
As everyone greeted Nia and began their morning conversations, Thomas was still tired. "Is it morning already? I had the worst sleep."
"So how was India?" asked Rebecca. "I bet the flowers are so beautiful this time of year."
"Yeah, it was okay, there was a lot of roses, and tulips, and...roses, and..." Thomas completely drifted off to sleep again.
BANG! A loud biff woke Thomas right up. It came from two engines shunting in the small sheds next to Tidmouth. As he processed what happened, Sir Topham Hatt came over to give everyone their jobs.
"Now, let's get started." started Sir Topham Hatt. "Percy, I know you're excited about your special, but right now I need you to take some gravel up to Crosby."
"Yes, sir." Percy said before heading off. "I'll head to the quarry now."
As Percy headed off, Thomas' eyes started drooping again.
"Rebecca, you're on express duty, Emily, I need you to set up the funfair, and Thomas..." Sir Topham Hatt noticed Thomas was falling asleep. "THOMAS!"
Thomas jolted awake. "I'm up! What's wrong?"
"I need you to take passengers up to the picnic."
"Alright, that shouldn't be a problem, sir."
"Are you sure? I've noticed you've been a bit tired this morning."
"Yeah, I'm fine," Thomas explained. "Long night. I got sprayed with ocean water on the ship back, so I didn't get much sleep."
"Well, just make sure this doesn't affect your work," Sir Topham Hatt warned, "I can't have you falling asleep. Who knows what could happen?"

Thomas headed onto his branchline to do his jobs. He was still exhausted and wasn't paying attention to his travels. And when I say it took a toll on his duties, I'd be downplaying it.
"Thomas?" asked Annie. "Why are you going so slowly? Did you get much sleep last night?"
"No," yawned Thomas, "it's a long story."
"Well, you know this isn't going to do," said Annie, "not on Sodor Day."
"Why not use your break to take a little cat-nap?" suggested Clarabel. "You can get a full hour's rest and feel all refreshed for the festivities!"
"Okay, I guess I could do with a little sleep," Thomas said as he pulled into Knapford. He dropped off Annie and Clarabel in a siding as he parked to take a nice little nap...until Charlie raced through a puddle and woke him up again.
"Augh, seriously?!" Thomas groaned. "Come on!"
"Splish, splash, splosh, Thomas!" laughed Charlie. "Remember that game?"
"Charlie! I'm trying to have a nap!" Thomas sighed. "Can you take your game somewhere else?"
"Oh, sorry, I didn't know," said Charlie, "but Sir Topham Hatt asked me to take Annie and Clarabel up to the castle."
"Really?" gasped Thomas. "That's great! Thank you so much, Charlie, that's a great help!"
"Ah, what can I say?" Charlie chuckled. "I had a really good coach!"
As Charlie collected Annie and Clarabel, Thomas rested in his little siding.
"Heh. Maybe I'll get myself a full eight hours." he smirked to himself.
"Ah, Thomas! There you are!" called Sir Topham Hatt, again interrupting Thomas' nap.
"I swear, why do I even try?" Thomas grumbled under his breath.
"I need you to take supports for the funfair rides up to Arlesburgh."
Thomas moaned. He just wanted a nap. "Why me? Stanley's available."
"Stanley's to take a passenger train to Great Waterton in a few minutes," Sir Topham Hatt explained, "and everyone else is busy - you're the only one available!"
    "Not even Diesel?"
"I already asked Diesel, but heā€™s busy with Percy."
"...fine." Thomas said through gritted teeth. "But once it's done, I'm going back to the shed."

Thomas was en route to Arlesburgh with the supports. He was grumpy, tired and covered from funnel to footplate in mud. He was in no mood to talk to anyone. He was too upset to notice that he missed a red signal.
"THOMAS!" cried Percy. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
Thomas was jolted back to reality when he saw Percy pulling a train. He hit the brakes, but it was no use as he bumped right into the side of one of the trucks.
"Percy, are you okay?" Thomas asked.
"Augh, come on!" Percy growled. "Watch where you're going, Thomas! I didn't need this today!"
Percy puffed away, leaving Thomas utterly baffled. "What's with him?"

Finally, Thomas was headed back to Tidmouth Sheds. He was desperate to just take the nap he so craved. He didn't want to be stopped by anyone. He approached Crovan's Gate as Percy started racing over.
"Thomas!" Percy panted as he raced over. "Stop!"
    "Oh, what now?!" Thomas cried.
"What's up with you?"
"Sorry, I've been wanting to get a nap for, like, an hour. But what's wrong? And why are you so dusty?"
"There's no time! I was delivering clay up to Vicarstown, and then all of a sudden one of my trucks just burst open!"
"What?!" Thomas forgot about going back to the shed.
"Yeah! Now there's a massive lineup of clay at-"
"Coming through!" chirped Rebecca as she raced through the station.
Thomas and Percy looked at each other. "REBECCA!"
The two of them wasted no time giving chase. They didn't know what would happen, but if they didn't stop her, it would be BAD. Diesel suddenly joined the chase, covered in soot.
"Oh, this is bad, this is baaad!" whimpered Diesel.
"Diesel?!" gasped Thomas. "What's up with you?"
"No time to explain! I need to stop Rebecca!" Diesel explained.
"Why are you trying to stop her?" asked Percy.
"I SAID THERE'S NO TIME!" screamed Diesel.
"You've been saying that a lot today." Percy rolled his eyes.
The three of them chased Rebecca to Vicarstown. Thomas got a bit close to her.
"Rebecca! REBECCA!" cried Thomas. "Stop this train!"
"What? Why?" asked Rebecca, before noticing the clay blocking the tracks.
"Rebecca! Slow down!" cried Nia, who was at another platform.
Rebecca gasped in horror. "STOP THIS TRAIN!"
Her driver applied the brakes, but it was no use. Rebecca flew right off the rails, driving straight into the station, decimating the platform. Thomas, Percy and Diesel watched all the chaos unfold.
"What did I do?!" asked Diesel.
"I think you mean..." said Thomas. "...what did we do?"
