The episode - whose story I was plainly not too excited for - begins with Toby and Henrietta. Toby's coach is supposed to be renovated, and given a new upholstery at the Steamworks. Old Toby feels genuinely saddened that he'd have to be without Henrietta for a few days, and even just in twenty minutes, he misses her. This was quite a funny joke.
The Fat Controller introduces Toby to his new coach while Henrietta is away - Hannah. Her first words in the show are amazingly delivered. "Hello Toby!" says the cheerful ol' coach - too cheerful, it appears, for her own good. Toby is visibly distressed - he simply cannot handle Hannah, he knows.
The Fat Controller's comment of them working spendidly together was quite a nice touch. Yet the next scene did disappoint me. Toby isn't that slow - the exaggerated speed most certainly irked me. Hannah urges Toby to go faster, like James. Yet, hasn't this plot been used before - with Thomas and his coaches (with the roles reversed, yes)? I mean, of course, speed is going to be a center plot every once in a while since they are vehicles after all, yet to me, Hannah's personality seems a hit and a miss. Her look, her voice, her everything could've been used so in depth, instead of just an impatient coach. There could've been many, many layers to her, yet and still could be, if they decide to go in that direction. But this episode wastes Hannah's potential, to an extent - at least.
Finally, the imapatient coach loses her patience (!) and pushes Toby onwards. This honestly didn't bother me - I mean, trucks do it all the time. Avoiding a near collision with Percy - which was amazingly animated by the way - Hannah makes Toby speed on. Even at the stations, she's restless - even though she's a passenger coach, but okay I guess.
Up until this long, the episode's done nothing in the last two minutes, just Hannah making Toby race around different locations. And I'm glad for the next part - because this is where the episode is saved. As Hannah refuses to put on her brakes, Toby nearly avoids a crash as they speed down the hill. And I'm glad they didn't crash - because if they had, and the episode had ended with a lesson then and there - it would feel like something from Season 14. Luckily, Toby decides to leave Hannah (and her passengers?) stranded because he's just had too much. He goes to the Steamworks to see Henrietta.
What Henrietta told Toby was really heartwarming, she's the real MVP for Toby - helps him through it all. Its amazing - and saves the episode from being a complete let down. Toby goes back, only to discover that Hannah's long gone, and is riding her fastest with the splendid red, on the verge of breaking down.
Toby told her. She wasn't built to go fast. Hannah starts breaking down, all her parts flying like Hiro in Hero. The coupling snaps, and she stops, luckily saved from getting recked to the core. Hannah realises her mistakes and Toby takes her to the Steamworks. Henrietta and Hannah are sisters, apparently - and with Toby's coach fixed, he starts back on his way, while Toby's coach's sister is heard in the background asking the crew to speed it up, the hasty coach she is.
I'm so glad for the episode's last three minutes - because without them, it would have been completely stupid, and wrong to be a part of this great season. Luckily, the episode is saved from being terrible, and earns a good rating in my eye.
So, from my side, this episode gets a 3.5/5.
