ThomasNATION Classic Reviews - Hide and Peep

Hey all, JF here, and...does anyone remember Hide and Peep?

With a show like Thomas and Friends that has gone on for long enough that there's nearly 600 episodes, there are bound to be some episodes that have been forgotten by many. Sure, there's still the classics like Thomas Comes to Breakfast or Buzz Buzz, but then you have episodes like Hide and Peep that never really get any attention. But I'm here to ask the question: should it get the attention it deserves or will it be better overall to hide from the episode? Let's begin.
A delivery at Brendam is running late, giving Thomas and Percy some time to have a game of hide and seek (or hide and peep, as the episode calls it). Throughout the game, Thomas continually tricks Percy into coming out of hiding, until the delivery finally docks and Thomas tries to get Percy out from hiding again.

The story follows a Boy Who Cried Wolf-type formula where the lead tricks his friend, and when something actually happens and he tells the truth, the friend doesn't believe him. Seeing how this formula was used plenty of times before, even in the show, it's not hard to guess the plot's outcome and resolution.
However, what does make the episode work is its overall simplicity. It doesn't have that big a conflict that greatly affects the character, it's just Thomas and Percy playing a fun game of hide and seek. And while I wish there was a scene of Thomas hiding and Percy finding him, the plot still feels engaging and the places Percy hides in are pretty clever.
So overall, Hide and Peep is a solid little romp that doesn't offer anything interesting or groudbreaking, but still serves as a delightfully simple tale, and if that's what you're into, you'll definitely enjoy this one. For me, I had a good enough time with it, so it earns itself a 3/5.
