ThomasNATION Reviews - Percy Disappears

September 21, 2024

I've gone on record saying one of the best aspects of All Engines Go! is the friendship between Thomas and Percy. Here, they take a few moments to test their bond in a few different ways. It's a little repetitive, but it's executed in a way where you'd end up rooting for the two of them to come together in the end. So with that said, let's see how Thomas and Percy's friendship gets tested this time around because a special party for Thomas is about to become a search party when 'Percy Disappears'!
When looking past what could be one of the most unimaginative titles for an episode ever, Thomas has apparently now made ten thousand deliveries which I find hard to believe unless you count both of the timelines from the original television series and reboot considering that 'All Engines Go' is meant to be a separate canon from that of the original Thomas & Friends series.  Also, you'd think Percy would know what a decal is considering that he had asked Yong Bao about how he earned the tiger decal on his tender back in Season 2's 'The Tiger Train' although all this talk about decals in the reboot might be a clever in-joke for how things like numbers and linings were applied to the model props in the original series.
And speaking of Percy regarding that tumble he took down the Blue Mountain Hills, I am just as surprised and confused as you are that he isn't damaged in the slightest!  But looking past all of the problems I have, it's great that we get to see Bruno again even though I'm pretty sure he's not gonna get a proper introduction into All Engines Go in the same way that Kana and Sandy didn't and he does provide a very helpful moral for both kids and adults about retracing your steps and remembering every stop that you've made in order to find something or someone that you've lost even if it meant seeing the same actions repeated twice by both Thomas and Percy in order for them to find each other and then get to Brendam Docks for the ceremony celebrating Thomas' ten-thousandth delivery and to receive his special decal which I'm sure we'll start seeing fans making copies of to give to their fellow fans at meetups or conventions.
Despite having a really unimaginative title and having some questionable moments, I still think that 'Percy Disappears' is a pretty decent watch if you're looking for more adventures from our best friends duo even if it can get kinda ridiculous at some points and that's why I'm giving it a rating of a 3.5/5.
